The 'Anniversary' model LDx5 was the final collaboration between the three famed starts of the horn world: Dale Clevenger, Steve Lewis, and Dietmar Durk. They updated the (very) popular LDx5 to more closely resemble the Schmidt model double that Dale played for much of his career. Dale and Steve worked closely for decades as Steve's horns were (and still are) the horns of the Chicago Symphony orchestra section. That sound!! This horn is stunning, both in looks and sound. It has many of the features that are associated with Dietmar's instruments: A removable nib for adjusting mouthpiece depth (or for changing to a European shank), a Bb tuning slide (rare on Geyer models) and just overall TOP quality finish and fit. This horn is made of lacquered yellow brass (the slides have a matte finish). It has a Ron Pinc flipper and a Duerk adjustable finger hook. These are extremely 'powerful' horns. The sound is quite centered, full and it will project through the loudest orchestras. There are minor dings here and there (mute dings in the flare as well), but overall it is in fine condition, and the compression is outstanding with a 1.0 reading.
