A huge void was left in the horn world when the Lawson shop closed. Walt and Bruce handmade each horn and they made every part of it. There are no makers left in the U.S. that still make every part of their horns. I think that even Conn outsources parts to other companies. Anyhow - the Lawson line of horns were the result of SO much research. This one is a Lawson Classical double made of Ambronze. The leadpipe is their FB210.125 - the one they used on all their horns. The bell has the lawson/Alexander ringset and is original to the horn. This horn is completely original though the fingerhook was moved at some point. Overall it's in good condition. There is lots of lacquer wear as would be suspected, but the Valves - WOW! They still have a compression reading of 0.9! Walt and Bruce used to nickel plate their valves because of the slipperiness and durability of nickel. There is evidence of repair on the leadpipe by where the thumb lever is, and a few joints have been resoldered.
