They say that: 'Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery' - and the Holton H200 is proof of that. They copied the design that was SUCH a huge success by Paxman with their famed model 40, and they did it at a fraction of the price. You don't need a descant very often, but they're worth their weight in gold when you have one in your stable and a Haydn symphony is on the program. This horn is made of lacquered yellow brass and has a detachable flare (Conn ringset). The compression is very good at 2.0 across 5 valves, and the extra valve is a much needed stopping valve.
The horn is all original. There are minor dings here and there - nothing major. The lacquer has worn in places and the brass has discolored to a dark red patina but this is just visual - it doesn't affect the horn. You'll have a hard time finding a descant horn in this price range anywhere!
Holton detachable bell case included.
