The worst thing about getting your budding hornist a nice shiny new double horn is dreading the scratches etc that will inevitably follow. The nice thing about this 8D is that it has great compression (1.1) And - those scratches and small dings are already there. No guilt! This horn is in excellent mechanical shape - meaning that the valves have the great compression (mentioned earlier) and it has just been ultrasonically cleaned. It's ready to go. The 8D is probably the most prevalent horn in the U.S. for the last 50 years or so. This horn is all original with the exception of an added waterkey on the leadpipe. There is plenty of lacquer wear, the fingerhook has been re-positioned, and a few minor dings. Perfect horn to take a player from H.S. through college.
