Yamaha 869D #001352 CUSTOMIZED JF

Every horn player is familiar with the Alexander 103 and many makers like to take that design and make it their own in new ways.  Yamaha did just that with the 869.  Those who play this model swear by them.  The craftsmanship is amazing as can be seen by the ultra-clean soldering and the perfect compression reading of 0.1.  The horn is made of unlacquered yellow brass (the lacquer was stripped).  A custom Dieter Otto leadpipe has been added.  The benefit of this pipe is that utilizes the 'bit' system to assure a perfect fit of the mouthpiece in relation to where the venturi starts in the leadpipe.  This horn is only about 5 years old.  These are extremely difficult to obtain here in the states.  I typically have to wait about 2 years to get a single one!  The case that comes with this horn was designed by Jacob Winter and it's so compact and form fitting that it's a piece of artwork itself.
