A compensating triple horn by famed maker 'Paxman' for only $7100??? It's not a typo - the horn is part of an estate that needs to be settled quickly. This is a New World compensating triple made of lacquered nickel. It has a Gold brass flare and a custom leadpipe (I do not know who made it). The compression is AMAZING with a reading of 1.5. The reason this is astounding is that the horn is a compensating double which means that when playing in 'F' the air passes through the valves 2x's - so that is the equivalent of 10 valves - (I'm not even including the stopping valve!). As mentioned this horn also has a stopping valve so you do not have to worry about finding alternative fingerings when playing gestopf on the Bb side of the horn.
I'm quite familiar with Paxman compensating doubles as I played on one for many years. I'm a HUGE Paxman fan.
The 'New World' models were made for the American market to compete with the Conn 8D sound - in fact, the previous owner was a student of Myron Bloom and he used this horn with the Cleveland Orchestra.
Dark, BIG, sound.
Great price!
Paxman fixed bell case included.
