Odds are that you have probably heard this horn in action. Owned by one of America's foremost principal hornists it has been wonderfully taken care of. This thing PLAYS! I'm a huge proponent of Paxman triple horns and this one is very similar to mine. It was made in 1973, its a full triple and has absolutely amazing compression (1.0 across 5 valves!). The 'matte' finish is not original but I think it looks awesome. Recently serviced and cleaned the valves are silent and efficient. A flipper and adjustable fingerhook have been added for comfort. The 'X' designates 'extra large' bell and tail which give this horn it's beautiful dark tone. The high F side of the horn matches the lower sides in timbre beautifully. There is a protective guard by the thumb and a few minor dings here and there but nothing unusual.
Protec case included.
