Many top professional players tend to prefer the 'old' style descants and triples by Paxman over the newer ones (which is also why they released the Centennial models!). This is a fixed bell (rare!) yellow brass horn. Much of the lacquer has worn off, but that is just visual. The horn has absolutely great compression (1.4 over 5 valves!), and the horn is in overall wonderful condition with just a few tiny dings here and there. The horn also has a 'Gestopf' (stopping) valve - so no more worries about those Bb stopped passages. No need to transpose and no worries on intonation. These horns are found in most professional orchestras world wide. I recall going to see the Vienna Phil many years ago - they were playing Shostakovich 5 - and when that solo came along, the principal player put down his Vienna horn and grabbed his trusty Paxman 40.
Paxman fixed bell case included.
