There used to be a Maserati model called the Quattroporte (or something like that). It looked like a standard sedan, not like a race car - but it performed like a high end track racer! This Paxman 40L has similar characteristics. At a glance you can see that it has been stored for a long time and the lacquer has discolored and is peeling off, but under all of that is a high end descant horn in good condition that plays amazingly. The 'L' large bell size helps to create a nice dark tone on the high F side of the horn to match the Bb side. Often times there is a jarring difference in tone between the different horns - but not here! The compression is good at 2.8 across FIVE (5) valves. Amado waterkeys have been added to the F tuning and the High F third slide. Valve extensions have been added to the levers for comfort.There are a few tiny dings, but other than the lack of looks it's in good condition and at a great price.
