Warning! Do NOT google: 'British Horn Concertos' played by David Pyatt because you will be tempted to think that just because you buy and play a Paxman model 25 that you'll be able to sound just like him.... however, having the right horn for the job certainly does help. If you've heard those recordings you'll understand my obsession (and so many others as well) with the Paxman (aka 'London') horn sound. Round, warm, and powerful. This is a lacquered 25M with the newer Compact Valve section. it's only about 5 years old and is in almost perfect condition. The compression is excellent at 1.9 and other than some former soldering at the leadpipe - it's in perfect condition. These horns currently sell for over $9000! (and that is without a case!). This one is priced to sell and includes a Protec detachable bell case as well.
The model 25 is visually the same as a model 20 - however it has a dual bore system where the Bb side of the horn is a different size appropriate to its shorter length.
