This is a classic Elkhart 8D from 1964. It's made of nickel and the lacquer has been removed from the bell tail and flare. The ferrule at the top of the horn has been replaced with a brass one. The leadpipe is a highly desired Lawson custom FB125 pipe. The compression reads 3.5, but the valves have never been replated. Even though they haven't been plated the horn plays just like the classic 8Ds I've loved. Big dark sound and easy slurring are hallmarks of what makes that American 8D sound. There are no thin spots or patches to be found. A few dings here and there (to be expected), and evidence of some previous dent work in the flare.
Conn fixed bell case is included.
