Piano arrangement by Yukiko Sano
Born in Pritzwalk in 1878 and laid to rest in Tolkewitz in 1919, he is—regrettably—a figure about whom little is known.
From February 14, 1904, to July 1, 1916, he served as a trumpeter in the Royal Musical Chapel—today known as the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden. His *Russian Fantasy*—much like his other compositions (the Concerto in D-flat Major for Trumpet, *Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2*, and *Sounds from Scotland*, to name but a few)—is, unfortunately, performed far too rarely these days. The aforementioned works are already in preparation.
The soloist is called upon to demonstrate both technical prowess and brilliance, as well as profound musicality. It is a wonderful work that I can recommend to any student.
