Good Overall Horn Routine for Advanced Players
Executing this classic routine in its entirety will posititvely impact most aspects of horn playing including building endurance and range. Quite the workout!

Book
In the preface he recommends for gig prep to play numbers one through five and seven through ten. (???) 1-5, 7-10 what? There are no numbered categories only keys. Not the most intuitive read.

Stanley Routine
I've been looking for this book at the suggestion of fellow hornists. It's a very comprehensive and thoughtfully written routine. It helps to strengthen all the horn basics.

The Standley Routine works.
I studied with Mr. Standley for about 7 years - before, during, and after being a Horn major at CMU. I learned this routine from memory. He did not give his students a published or written out routine. This routine will transform your concept of breathing, timing, and preparation. It will also strengthen your concept of tonality. I highly recommend this routine for players at ANY level! If you can play this routine every day - which is very possible - your playing will improve. Period.
