It has a hard side and bottom shell with a padded top and a detachable hard-topped bell section. There's probably not a plane which this wouldn't fit in. Made of ballistic nylon cordura - backpack style.

Lightweight and great for travel
This is a great case for traveling. I'm glad to know I can zip the bell off if a plane cabin is too small because checking a horn is out of the question. Be careful with your first F slide-one time I didn't push it back in when I put it away and it got dented a bit. A side note about my order: when I ordered this case, there was an option for leather and I was shipped a nylon case. I was told they don't even have leather and offered a refund or to keep the case. Not terribly inconvenient but not really happy about that. I also bought a horn a few years ago and it was shipped to an old address. Luckily a friend was living there but I definitely gave a different address for it to be shipped to.
