Hoyer is one of those companies who completely re-invented themselves after WWII. They used to make heavy HEAVY horns - they played fine, but they were HEAVY. Then, they re-tooled and after the wall came down they made high end instruments. The 801 is their student model double. This one is made of lacquered yellow brass. It has been in storage a while and thus the lacquer has degraded leaving lots of little red spots - but they are just superficial and can be removed by buffing off the lacquer and the spots - or - simply leave them be! This is NOT dezincification - it's simply due to being stored in an unopened case for a while.
This is a Geyer style horn - nice and light and agile. The slurs on this horn are quite nice. It has an adjustable fingerhook and thumb lever so any sized player will feel comfortable holding it. These horns currently list for almost $7000!!! - this is a huge savings.
The valve compression measures 2.9 and it comes with a Briz detachable case if desired. There is the aforementioned lacquer wearing and some minor dings here and there, but nothing large and nothing that affects the way it plays in any manner.
This horn has just been professionally cleaned here in my shop and is ready to go.
