I like to joke that if Holton horns were a car they'd be a Volkswagen Beetle. They're inexpensive, reliable, and everywhere! The previous owner of this lacquered nickel H177 took very good care of it. The valves still have excellent compression at 1.9, and there is no evidence of any major damage. There is some wear (as to be expected) to the lacquer here and there. There are minor dings in the flare, by the hanguard, and under the fingerhook. One joint was resoldered, and other than that nothing major at all. Why would anyone rent a crappy horn for $100/month when they can purchase this, and at the end of their time with this horn they can recoup their investment.
Here's what Holton says about the H177:
The versatile Model H177 offers a compact feel and bright sound. It includes a hand-fitted rotary valve system, string linkage, separate Bb tuning slide, and a change lever designed to fit the thumb in a natural position. Made of extremely corrosion-resistant nickel silver.
Holton fixed bell case included.
