ABOUT THE TWO BACH WORKS FOR PIANO

Johann Sebastian Bach composed numerous works for keyboard, mainly organ. The many collections of works for keyboard include two volumes of 24 preludes and fugues known as the Well-Tempered Clavier, a set of six French Suites, English Suites, a collection of 20 or so works for Anna Magdelena Bach, his second wife, some preludes, and finally a set of two and three part inventions. The Invention No.9 in F Minor, BWV870 is one of the two-part inventions Bach composed for the harpsichord, and the Minuet in G Minor is out of the collection referred to as the Notebook of Anna Magdelena Bach. I arranged both of these works for flute and horn to demonstrate the melodic writing of both of these piano works. The flute part can be performed on oboe as well. It is my hope that performers and audience members alike get to perform and hear these works in a different light.
