I had the pleasure of sitting next to the owner of this horn while he used it. FABULOUS sound and a great player as well. His estate is selling his instruments and this is one of the best of the bunch. It's a brass, unlacquered, 103 with a Lawson leadpipe. The compression is great at 1.9. The valves have mechanical action so you never have to worry about another broken valve string. There are 2 protective guards by the thumb linkage. Those of you who know this vintage 103 know that the thumb lever is a bit unwieldy and thus it's best to rest your thumb against those tubes for ease of use. Engraved that it was made for Giardinelli's and that it was made in W. Germany helps to give the approximate date in the 70's. Due to being unlacquered it does have lots of tarnish - but that is visual (and protective of the brass!)
Alexander fixed bell case included.
