ABOUT THE ARRANGER:
Born in 1974, the Catalan musician Joaquim Palet studied horn, instrumental pedagogy, and natural horn in Barcelona, Munich, and Leipzig. He was a scholarship recipient of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation and the Fundació Güell.
He won various prizes with the wind quintet Lipsia and as a soloist at the Barcelona Conservatory. In the field of chamber music, he was awarded First Prize at the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy University Competition and Second Prize from the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation (Stiftung Preußischer Kulturbesitz) in the wind quintet category.
Highlights of his orchestral career include engagements with the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie, the Orchestra of the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, and the Kammerphilharmonie Bremen. As a soloist, he has performed with the WDR Symphony Orchestra, the Staatskapelle Schwerin, and the Oldenburg State Orchestra, among others.
His current projects include wind chamber music—particularly with the Deutsches Hornensemble and LipCam—as well as his teaching activities in horn and historical horn instruments at both the Oldenburg City Music School and the University of Music, Drama and Media Hannover.
Since 2004, Joaquim Palet has served as Principal Horn of the Oldenburg State Theater.
