It's always so cool to get one of these rare Lawsonized Holton horns. In the early 1970s Walter Lawson began to take the humble Holton horns and turn them into the horn equivalent of a 'horn sportscar'. He would install one of his custom leadpipes (these now sell for close to $1000), cut the bell with a Lawson/Alexander ring, and then he would professionally plate and re-fit the valves. The perfect compression rating on this horn shows how good his work was. This horn belongs to one of America's top principal horns (now retired). Just as with Barry Tuckwell - they both discovered that these horns were like wolves in sheep's clothing. This horn is made of yellow brass. Most of the lacquer is worn, but that just affects the looks, not the playability. You'll be really hard pressed to find a horn that plays as good as this without spending thousands more.
Small dings here and there, plus evidence of a repaired dent in the flair - but mechanically perfect. It has just been ultrasonically cleaned and is ready to play anything you can!
Brown suitcase included.
