The velcro horn strap by Leather Specialties is for the player who wants to try a hand strap without marring the finish of their horn. The Clebsch and Alexander Straps both require soldering an 'anchor' on to the horn. This is an inexpensive way to see if this is the route for you to take. Try one of these before you solder on a duckfoot or a permanent hand strap.

I like this particular hand guard bc of its size and it is not cumbersome.

    It Works!

Posted by Kevin Kosiak on Nov 4th 2021

I don't have big hands so the stretch from the pinky hook to my valves is an uncomfortable reach on my Reynolds Contempora. This strap took a little tinkering with and getting used to but now provides a much more secure, and comfortable, grip on my horn. As a side note, on the rare occasion I need to stand to play, the strap makes that easier as well. Good product, fair price, quick shipping. Thanks Pope Horns!

    Leather Specialties Hand Guard/Strap

Works great, comfortable too. Replaced another hand strap I had that was absorbing moisture/oils from my hands and not playing nice with the metal underneath, this one does not seem to have this problem thus far!

    Horn hand strap

It is as advertised. It fit my Yamaha 869D and I like it. I have the Klebstrap on my 668, but I wanted something that didn't have to be installed and this works great!

Best hand horn strap out there!

Posted by Laura on May 3rd 2021

Myself and my students LOVE these! They provide a feeling of the horn floating. So, it allows the student to more easily see if they're using pressure or doing something funny with their left hand. It also corrects left hand position it is perhaps angled incorrectly or held too firmly. I love this product!

I love this product. Allows me to hold the horn without using my pinkie finger. Wonderful.

    Leather Specialties Horn Holding Strap

I bought this strap as a temporary test before permanently mounting a Clebsch strap on my horn. It attached quickly and easily, and does a very nice job relieving the tension on my pinky. Definitely a good, risk-free way to go. Why not just stay with this strap? It's a little thicker than the Clebsch, making it tougher to reach my keys, and I'd have a more comfortable grip with my pinky hook removed. Still, an excellent product.

Great, cheap way to test out a strap

Posted by Spencer Marsh on Jan 30th 2017

I was wanting to put a duck foot on my horn, but knowing that Im going to upgrade (hopefully sooner than later, Ive got my eye on a Briz 2000G), I didn't want to drop $70 on a duck foot, then pay and wait on a tech to get it installed. So, seeing that this was both temporary and cheap, I decided to give it a shot. I now recommend it to anyone wanting to try one out. It takes all the weight off of the pinky and makes the horn more comfortable to play. I personally don't like the look of straps, but the added comfort is worth it. you can also still use the pinky ring if you so desire.
