This Yamaha 863 is impressive on all fronts. The unlacquered yellow brass has a beautiful rustic look to it without a dent or scratch anywhere, while the compression inside the valves sits just under 1.0 (wow). The 863 is Yamaha's Schmidt style model, and the horn has the signature piston thumb valve. The bell is detachable and has a Yamaha bell ring, and there are two piston-style spit valves on the main tuning and F branches. For left hand comfort, there is the original Yamaha pinky hook soldered on and an adjustable Alexander duckfoot. The valve levers use string linkage (except the change valve), and all slides and valves move with ease. Above all this technical stuff, the horn really does play exceptionally, and is definitely one I'd recommend trying out for yourself. The horn does not come with a case.
