The Yamaha 667 is a Geyer wrap that has only very recently been replaced with their new Geyer wrap, the Yamaha 671. The 667 has filled the role of first Geyer wrap horn for many professional players around the world.
This horn started as a Yamaha 667 but now has had work done on it by Felix Cantesanu. Felix installed one of his leadpipes with a piston style spit valve and cut the bell (Alexander/Lawson ring). The horn is made of unlacquered yellow brass which is still in wonderful condition.
The valve compression on this horn is very high at about 4.8. Ken and I are both baffled, however, because the horn still plays well. I was able to get a full sound without having to blow my brains out and work really hard. It's worth checking out if your a student looking for a horn with a detachable bell. The horn comes with a detachable bell horn case.
