This Paxman model 44x is an excellent descant horn with 6 valves. In essence, it is a model 40 with an additional pinky valve. The horn sits in B flat with no levers pressed, and with the two thumb change valves can be put in high F or A horn (for stopping). The pinky valve puts the horn in "regular" F. The horn is made of unlacquered yellow brass and has a detachable bell, with Paxman bell ring. The x in the model number signifies an eXtra large bore. Valve compression sits just below 2.0, which is excellent for a horn with 6 valves, and the instrument comes with a red MB7 case.
