The Paxman 20 is the company's flagship model, designed around the incorporation of the Merewether system. This system was invented in order to maintain an open stream of air even during a valve change, to provide smoothness in the sound while pushing down various fingering combinations.
This 20L has been well maintained and professionally played. It is in great condition with a valve compression of about 1.2. The unlacquered yellow brass has barely a dent or scratch on it and the standard valves and slides move freely and easily. The "L" signifies that it has a Large bell, and it is detachable with a Lawson/Alexander bell ring set. There is a lever spit valve located on the main tuning slide.
